Opened in October 2015, the Banbury Gateway Shopping Park is located to the North East of the town on Acorn Way, about two miles from the town centre. It is easily accessed from Junction 11 of the M40, and a bus service is available between the town centre and Banbury Gateway, running every 30 minutes between 9am and 10pm on weekdays, 10am to 10pm on Saturdays, and 10:30am and 5pm on Sundays and public holidays.
Banbury Gateway has a wide selection of fashion and other outlets, including River Island, Primark, Carphone Warehouse, Marks & Spencer, and several cafes and restaurants including Starbucks, a McDonalds with a drive-thru, and Ed’s Easy Diner, which is the first of this American 1950s style diner chain to open in the area. Early in 2016 more stores will be opening, which will include Next and New Look.
Throughout the year Banbury Gateway will offer community events. The first of these was held in December 2015 and celebrated the Christmas season with its free event entitled My Wild Winter. These events will include family activities, in-store discounts and offers and other educational and entertaining experiences. For example, in the Christmas event, the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust were present, guiding people on how to look after wildlife during the winter months, as well as live ice-sculpting and a competition to win a £20 shopping voucher. Find out about upcoming events by following us on Facebook or Twitter.
Make a Day of It
If you are coming to spend a whole day in Banbury, why not combine your visit to the Gateway with a stroll round the Old Town? You can use the shuttle bus between Banbury Gateway and the town centre, perhaps shopping at the Gateway in the morning, and then experiencing the local independent shops, cafes and pubs in the historical and picturesque town centre? Or you could start with coffee and a stroll in town – perhaps visiting the market on market day – and then do your shopping at the Gateway in the afternoon where you can quickly access the motorway when you are ready to go home.
