Roast dinner at The Old Auctioneer in Parsons Street

Eating out is very much a part of most people’s lives, and there are many reasons why we need to find a restaurant: a celebration, to meet friends, a romantic rendezvous, a business lunch meeting or a quick snack while out shopping.

Banbury offers a range of restaurants to meet all of these needs, as well as a variety of different cuisines to try, so whether you are coming to Banbury to shop, for business or to meet friends, there will be something to suit the occasion.

Shopping is one of Banbury’s most popular pursuits, with plenty of choice in the Castle Quay Shopping Centre, the Market Place or The Old Town.  All of these areas offer great restaurants, pubs and cafes to pop into for lunch or a snack to recharge your batteries.

Restaurants, pubs and inns

On the High Street, you might like the relaxed, informal atmosphere of The Pinto Lounge, where you can choose from a long menu of snacks, breakfasts, brunches and lunches. You could also just pop in for coffee and a cake.

For a cosy lunch and local ales, or if you’re looking for somewhere to go for a bite and a drink after work, or before your journey home, then you could try one of Banbury’s many historic pubs.  Soak up the olde worlde atmosphere at The Old Auctioneer or Ye Olde Reine Deer, Banbury’s oldest pub dating back to the 15th century.  Or try the recently renovated Three Pigeons Inn, a 17th century coaching inn offering fine wines and dining as well as less formal lunches.

Award-winning oriental cuisine

If you’re coming into Banbury for a special occasion, or just want to treat yourself to a night out, then there is a wealth of fine restaurants to choose from.  If you are in the mood for some international cuisine, then Banbury also has lots to offer and for arguably the finest chefs in Banbury visit the Cherwell Restaurant and Bistro which now offers bistro and fine dining evenings.

Or perhaps you are in the mood for Britain’s most popular fare, an Indian meal offering a sophisticated dining experience with traditional recipes using fresh, authentic ingredients.  For something a little different, you might want to try Jaypur offering meals with subtly spiced, authentic flavours of Southern Asia.

A taste of the orient

For Oriental tastes, you can’t get much better than the Thai Orchid Restaurant, which has been a favourite in Banbury since 1986. Using fresh ingredients imported directly from Thailand, they offer exceptional Thai cuisine in a magnificently exotic setting.  And for Chinese it has to be everyone’s favourite Mr Rice.

Whatever your tastes, or whatever the occasion, Banbury’s wide choice of formal and non-formal dining experiences will have something to suit you and your dining companions.

Parsons Street offers a wealth of restaurants to choose from.  Towards the top, near Jay Pur, is Award winnnng Pizza Calzone.  For Italian lovers this place has to be checked out with its outside seating and spacious interior.  A relaxing evening for couples.
